Edited 6 years agoReally 2019 is coming remix this without the digital explosive crap on certain songs. I understood the point in 1999 but just don't mix any instrument in the RED please and take those digital tics out of there. 20 th anniversary of The Soft Bulletin REMIXED DONE RIGHT.

Edited 7 years agoThe music on this albums is incredible. It's an absolute trip with some very catchy psychedelic pop and it incorporates some interesting progressive elements as well. In of the Master, just buy the LP. This album isn't worthy of being on HDCD. It's too loud, distorted and compressed, just don't buy the HDCD version of this album. the standard redbook CD version of "At War With the Mystics," sounds more detailed, dynamic and clean than the HDCD copy of Soft Bulletin. (Mystics is still quite compressed, just not as badly as this one).

Quite simply, one of the best psychedelic rock records of all time. Emotive, evocative, funny, sad, gross, grandiose. I bought it the day it came out, and that weekend in the early summer of '99 saw them perform this record live, having given the audience headphones and broadcasting the show on a low-frequency radio station, so essentially we were listening to them on FM radio while watching them perform in front of us, fake blood, glitter and all. There is only one Flaming Lips. Cherish them obnoxiously.
