I got a wlbl with just handwritten Mr Kirk's remix on both sides but tracklist is identical. Is this an unofficial ? Any ideas anyone?

No way this release is from 1990. It's definitely a 1991 release. Nobody was playing this in 1990, and the the breaks are fast and mastered for 1990 standards. The original Mr. Kirk is from very late 1990, and this one is from spring 1991.
I actually prefer ''The Scorcher'' tune than Mr.Kirk. Great track and great vinyl this one all mixes. -
Never really checked for the B side back in the day, probably because was too busy playing the original Mr. Kirk's, but with todays ears, Kirk's Back sounds dark and moody and rollin' with a big breakbeat and bass to match.
So now all these years later I hear it as a worthy B side to 'The Scorcher', also a quality hardcore track.

The first 4 Hero track I ever heard. 'The Scorcher' was 'THE' standout track on the first 'Thin Ice' compilation from way back in 1991 (albeit in an edited form).
Beginning with looped crowd noise samples and a 'Thank you-hooo!!!' shout, 'The Scorcher' then kicks in with a funk guitar sample and 'Burner! Burner! Yeah! Yeah!' vocal loops layered over a stomping break. It's a very busy sounding track with warehouse style bleeps and a general feeling of funkiness, which in my opinion makes this more of an effective track than 4 Hero's signature track, 'Mr Kirk's Nightmare'. 'The Scorcher' is backed up by a more stripped down mix on 'Musical Merits'.
'Mr Kirk' is revamped and sped up a tad on the 'Kirk's Back' tracks, with the 'For The Theifs Mix' being most notable for the anti-sampling message aimed at 4 Hero copyists. 'Rather than steal from other people's sounds, why not steal your own'. Classic Reinforced!
