Love the album. One of the best looking vinyls I own, unfortunately the sound quality is pretty bad. Constant static throughout the album brings you out of the experience.
-
Coolest discs I own. Basically bout the album for the art. Maynard has excellent writing on the album. However , a touch of distortion and overall not being a huge tool fan earns this album a solid 4.
-
Yeah, I couldn't even listen to this. It sounds horrible. Bad fidelity. Flat. Just a really bad pressing of an otherwise fantastic album. Picture disks are typically really bad, anyway. So, I wasn't surprised.
-
It does crackle and I've put a bunch of effort into trying to clean my copy (wet play etc). I've got to the point that I play it and try and tune out the crackle because when the band kicks in it's a pretty great sounding thing and they well and truly drown out the surface noise.
-
Very unique picture disc and gatefold, but the sound is very noisy, if you buy this for display or as a fan must have it's okay but if you want the audio, it's not great.
-
Yeah, this is one I wish I would have ed on (as I usually do with picture discs).
Jumps on Patient, Schism, and Parabola.
Print on C Side is extra noisy.
Guess I'll keep as a collectible until a proper pressing shows up. -
Beautiful but it just doesn’t sound good. First album is slightly warped and side B sounds off. Beautiful to hang on the wall but not for audiophiles.

This album sounds like ass. I have mine hanging in two very nice frames on my wall and now I only listen to the CD. Buy this to collect or for decoration but I wouldn't ever listen to it again.
-
I wish i had seen all the comments about noisy albums b4 buying. Each side is just cracks & pops. Being a picture disc is no excuse bc i have a 2-3 other picture discs that sound flawless on both sides.

I recently ordered two sealed copies of this from different sellers. The first arrived with marks all over the casing and unstuck sleeves. The sound on disk 1 was woeful (I expected this) and the second disk wouldn't even fit on my player with a large white scruff on the side. I got a replacement copy to hopefully resolve the presentation issues but had similar problems. Packaging was much better but disk 2 won't fit on my player again and this time it's disk one with the white scruff. Perhaps a bad batch but will have to leave it, at least for now.
