Exhumed – Gore Metal

Sadistic and extremely heavy record. This new remaster is heavier and punchier than the original without changing anything else or the nastiness of the original. Liner notes are utterly fantastic and the cover presentation is swell. Had to go with the pool of blood color of course. Got this signed by Matt and Ross on the Decayed Decades tour. Album is amazing and features one of the best cover songs I have ever heard!

I’ve never owned a prior version of this album but I can say this edition is just fantastic. Relapse really nailed the presentation and sound here. Crank it to 11!

A bloody mess, embodied in anti-musical harmonies. Exhumed is one of the best incarnations of "Carcass-metal", which somehow managed to find its own unique style. However, the debut "Gore Metal" is the quintessence of the most rude and cruel reading of the favorite Grind/Death albums by fans of the genre. Which doesn't stop this album from sounding convincing even 25 years later. Skullcrushing, bloodletting and entrailsripping material, forcing to headbang until the cervical vertebrae are pinched.

The anniversary reissue turned out to be cool. It's hard to say anything about remastering, it remains to be hoped that in comparison with previous presses it didn't get any worse =) But vinyl gives off a wall of merciless sound, this album definitely didn't sound more delicate or thinner - that's enough. The vinyl is smooth, the playback quality is not objectionable, the acid green color looks funny, although it does not particularly match the cover design. The tracklist completely repeats the 2005 press, including a cover of Sodom, which sounds just devastatingly good.

An extended design was used for the reissue. The press contains a small booklet with a collage of old photos, posters, lyrics and linernotes of the musicians. It also makes a pleasant impression, obviously this is not just a regular stamping for a memorable date. Selective lamination was used for the cover, it looks nice. My copy came from a European distro without a censored cover sheet, most likely, a small number of copies will have it. According to the totality of impressions, the release was a success. It is hoped that other early albums will see a reissue in a similar creative way.

Not all copies seem to come with the censored cover sheet? My slime green copy did not include this.

Sounds punchy as hell, they need to repress this on black wax soon!
