Simple Minds – Once Upon A Time

A very solid pressing of this popular album. It's a classic 80s stadium rock sound with a winning mix of disciplined reverb allied to precision clarity for the instrumentation. The bass really pumps without overwhelming the other elements. While other acts from this period and genre multi-tracked their efforts to death resulting in some horrible mixes (cough, cough U2), this is a sonic treat and a strong set of popular tunes. An accessible, commercial album but it doesn't make it any less worthy.

This is a killer record. Every track is great. Way underrated album and band.

I feel bad for the people who refuse to see past Dont You Forget About me. The entire scope of their discography is astonishing. This album is phenomenal.
Get down on it.

This is a nice mid 80's album by Simple Minds and production is time correct, but nothing new. The sound and pressing are good too, probablly all digital, but not bad sounding.

mine is on translucent Quiex vinyl. hold to light and you can see through the vinyl. Populare with A&M in mid-80s

Was somehow missing from my collection of 80s records purchased in the 80s. I this music only from MTV and radio. In vinyl, this has a BIG, BIG soundstage. Individual instruments and voices cut through a massive wall of sound. My copy sold as VG+ had no visual blemishes and plays with no noise or clicks whatsoever.

I love how Oh Jungleland sounds like a Killers song travelled thru time.

Disc 2 is esentially only six original songs and 15 minutes of this CD consists of lazy repeats from Sparkle In The Rain SDE. The other double sets for SFY, Sparkle and New Gold Dream are worth getting because they actually cover all the commercial UK mixes and B-sides. This one scratches the surface and badly.

Love this album, the energy & lyrics are fantastic... Maybe to much leaving the New Wave, but this is forgiven

This album was the beginning of the end of a promising UK New Wave Band. As a die hard Simple Minds fan until that day of release I was shocked by the pathetic attitude the band decided to go for. I me listening to it in the record shop totally disapointed. They were like a beautiful girl returning from a style consultancy totally ugly
