Edited one year agoIts 2019 why am I listening to this at 5am? Because good music is....well subjective but honestly the entire run of Excursions was excellent tho number 1 was and still is a favorite. Second orbit is less beat oriented i.e. house ambient and more inner, reflective and well mellow.
Now the 1st two tracks IF your familiar with the artists they sampled are ether dwelling ambient tracks utilizing samples from the Carpenters and yes.....Ashra BUT they are done well and not overly layered and distracting.
I find listening to Schizophrenia superb in the early morning hours the intro chords are spacious and just places your listening attention into a blissful curiosity. The cd tops all the mellow vibes off with an eastern snake charmer of an uptempo track by Material, Bill Laswells then side project. At the end of the day I miss the non pretentiousness of this genre and the 90s was a truly wonderful time to have experienced all this scrumptious ear candy. Enjoy!
