The "it's all a bunch of fucking shit" part in M.A.D.'s song is one of the greatest moments in the history of recorded music. unfortunately more relevant than ever...

Edited 2 years agoHas anybody compared this pressing with one of 1982? In my opinion much too quiet.

Edited 2 years agoif you are missing a copy of the booklet:

Best CA punk compilation ever, still have my OP, sounds as fresh as when my 15 year old ass bought it.

If you happen to have a spare copy of the booklet shoot me a message, would love to have one to accompany my copy.

If anyone out there wants to just sell me the zine, please me. I have this on vinyl, but the zine is missing.

Edited 4 years agoWonderful encapsulation of an extremely important time in punk rock: post the 1st wave (Weirdos, Germs, Damned, Middle Class, etc.) and 2nd wave (Black Flag, Discharge, Minor Threat, Metal Urbain, etc.) pre the late 80's resurgence (Op Ivy, NOFX, Screeching Weasel, Big Black, etc.), nope, this was the no-mans-land era where to be a punk did not mean being hip, it meant being dedicated to a music and a lifestyle that was not accepted by society as it is today (thankfully). Certainly some clunkers on here (that Frigidettes song is comically atrocious, and I don't sense any irony there at all, and the Scapegoats song, though charming in its rudimentary sludge-punk, is pretty damn bad), but also some classic bands (Flipper, DK, M.D.C., Fang, etc.), and some unbelievable unknown gems (That Karnage song is so rad. The Angst song is like a post-punk prototype that sounds like a Bay Area Wire. Actually, side 3 across board is pretty fucking killer. Also a great tune by the Impatient Youth. The Vicious Circle song, may be one of the best hardcore songs you've never heard! ). As a chronicle of Bay Area punk rock, this couldn't be a more accurate portrayal of those times. A great record to drink a couple beers to and research the bands as you pogo around the room. Fun shit my punk rock brethren!!
