Clivillès & Cole House Mix 1 is simply the best house track ever: the best vocalist house music ever managed to work with, over the best piano house riffs -- and when you think it's all gone, the fattest dub ever with a full genre crossover and perfect build. Thumbs up, Robert. Rest in peace, David. And sadly enough, rest in peace Whitney :-(

This is, for me, the perfect epitomy of what a "classic" is. Everytime I listen to it I get goosebumps, because of the strong emotion carried by Whitney's voice. It could have seemed pretty challenging to make a cover of Chaka Khan song, but at this time Whitney, Narada AND Clivilles & Cole were definitely at the top, and nothing could stop them ! It's a pity Whitney finally came to release commercial crap when wee see what she could do ... The structure of the song in itself is very interesting : first Whintey's voice alone with the piano and some powerful backing vocals, then C&C instrumental part, then voice+instrumental (listen to David Cole mad keyboard parts !), and then 7 minutes of a garage rollercoaster, using all sorts of tricks and effects, dub and overdubs. A real masterpiece, as a well a masterclass for beginners in dance music production ! THAT is dance music
