Notes
"Waterloo" won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 and became ABBA's first worldwide hit.
The single is the first release where the 'ABBA' group name was used. The B-side was almost uniformly "Watch Out". In Scandinavia, a version in Swedish was also released as single, backed with the Swedish version of "Honey, Honey" (which was the last official recording by the group in their native tongue). "Waterloo" was also recorded in French and in German for the German markets, but it was the original English version that was the most popular.
"Waterloo" was the first of the band's nine UK #1's and topped charts throughout Europe. The song also reached the Top 10 in many markets considered crucial for an international breakthrough (and where ESC was unknown): the United States (#6), Canada, and Australia.
There are multiple versions of both Swedish (POS 1186) and English language version (POS 1187) singles on Polar label, released in Sweden/Scandinavia, or sometimes limited to Sweden, Denmark, Norway or Finland.
These differences have been observed (so far) and need to be used to tell the versions apart:
– large centre hole / small centre hole / push-out centre
– the text "Grand Prix of the 1974..." on either/both/neither label
POS 1186 only:
– alternate mix of A-side may appear of A-side (only Waterloo)
– label edge is smooth without edge, or is 'teethed' (Norway)
– right society: NCB or n©b (or a combination of both)
POS 1187 only:
– "(Eng. version)" in small or large font (Sweden/Scandinavia), "(eng. version)" (Denmark) or "English version" (Norway)
– '710' in runouts (Norway)
– picture sleeve (mostly Denmark) / generic/company sleeve
– picture sleeve text: red or green (front), number of album sleeves pictured (rear)
– "Björn" (Sweden or Finland) or "Bjørn" (Denmark or Norway)

Record is 2040 114 however the cover is 2040 117 with sticker bottom right saying "Englische Version" -
"On the actual release, the word "version" in the track titles is not capitalised.“
This can also be said for 99.9% of all German record releases, because the stupid Discogs rules prescribe the wrong spellings. -
If anyone has this pressing in a picture sleeve please could you post a photo of the back of the sleeve or confirm that it's identical to the front sleeve?

That perimeter text is the giveaway. Originals from 1974 have a much shorter perimeter text. This one dates from roughly 1976 or 1977. -

Only 100 B/W record sleeves were printed in this country! As written in the book "Abbamania vol.1" -

this is the Austria Misspress Cover with the Swiss Vinyl pressing -
My copy is missprinted as I have twice the label with waterloo on both sides. -
This extremely rare version contains NO Swedish Waterloo version - although it's printed on the cover with Swedish flag.
But the MISSPRINT version is one ot the most wanted ABBA collectors item.
