Belly – Star

Some crackling/hissing and whooshing as mentioned by others, but it is thankfully not too distracting. Pretty much a constant low level crackle through the right speaker. Does not happen with any of my other records, so cant be my system. A shame because otherwise the mix is great.

Both of my discs are very quiet and flat; d1 is light blue and d2 is darker blue and both w/ white swirls (do not care, wish it was black). This pressing is well mastered to vinyl and is especially detailed and dynamic spread across 2 discs.

Overdubbed Donnely vocals sound especially lovely. Attack and punch are two adjectives that immediately came to mind when Angel was winding down and Dusted kicked in. Excellent pressing of a seminal alt rock lp.

I have the same whooshy noise between tracks as mentioned so guessing it was a mastering problem.

Well packaged LP though and the music speaks for itself, such a great album

What an odd release. First off, the promotional pictures promised us a spectacular colored vinyl, but what we get was a standard white vinyl with a color swirl. Then, I see some copies have a blue swirl on disc 1, and a pink on disc 2. Not mine - BOTH are blue swirl. Other than that, I have hiss and swoosh in every break between tracks, but it's not a problem when the music plays. And yes, it sounds terrific. Mine are flat too.

Does anybody know how many of these were pressed? Limited edition of ???

This LP is ~ 50 minutes long, so the original vinyl had ~ 25 minutes per side, which is not ideal for vinyl. Spreading it out onto 4 sides, ~ 12 minutes per side, helps to achieve louder volume (so less vinyl noise), higher resolution sound with lesser chance of inner groove distortion. It is 33 RPM, not 45 RPM.

An excellent album from the mid 90s blast of talented bands. This album rocks and sobs at the same time. Feed the Tree is the single but the album takes you thru a rollercoaster ride of emotions. This album used to be a regular in the car when it came out. Definitely check it out.

I own the original LP, so just asking, why is this version a double-lp when it contains the same amount of songs? Does it play at 45RPM?

Zero wobble and sounds brilliant. Best pressing I've had of this album.

I know Plain has a bad reputation with presses. Any comments about this before I take the plunge? Any difference in sound to the blue colored one?
