do any releases have the official instrumental? i have 4 different promos and the instrumental never sounds like the original song. it's almost as if they used different drums or something like that. i'm 100% it's not the original instrumental.

Gangsta’s Paradise was a number one song in Australia for 14 weeks! This was a national record for 22 years before being broken by Ed Sheeran's Shape Of You. The song is the main reason why the movie Dangerous Minds is known to people. It came out at the height of the East Coast/West Coast beef in U.S Hip Hop. Gangsta’s Paradise is a great blend of Coolio's straight to the point and gangster lyrics, LV's excellent vocals, an epic choir production and a catchy Stevie Wonder sample. Probably helped that Michelle Pfeiffer appeared in the video clip. Gangsta’s Paradise was the biggest song of 1995 and won several awards. I at one award show, at the end of his acceptance speech he said quite poetically: "ain't no gangsters living in paradise."

On Wednesday the 28th of September 2022, Coolio ed away, I hope he's chilling out with 2Pac and Biggie. Rest In Peace.

As with most hip-hop, Gangsta's Paradise is a rip-off of someone else's music. In this case it's a variation of Ray Barretto's "Pastime Paradise" from 1982.
