Notes
The title of the album is a play on words. The literal English translation of the French title "Les Chants Magnétiques" is "Magnetic Songs". However, the French word for 'fields' (champs) is a homophone of the French word for 'songs' (chants), so in French, if the title is spoken out loud, it can be interpreted as either magnetic fields or as magnetic songs. "Les Champs magnétiques" was a surrealist book published in 1920.

Sorry to disagree with some of the bad reviews here - my system is pretty unforgiving, and this sounds very good on it on its own - although I don't have an original to compare. I do have two original pressings of Zoolook, the MFSL LP reissues of both Oxygene & Equinoxe, and there's no question that you get more harmonic richness and dynamics from those - but again, on this one, noise floor is very low, detail is excellent, and tonal accuracy clearly lets you hear into the blending of pure analogue and digital sounds this was Jarre's first use of the Synclavier, alongside his by-then-usual barrage of analogue synths and boxes). Pressing quality is top notch, too. A very solid release for me - don't feel the need to hunt for an original, and I'm saying this as a HATER of the Jarre remasters on CD, which did make me go and get the original or MFSL releases. -

in my opinion just a mediocre reprint.
no pops, no clicks in my issue, but the instruments can stand out a little more clearly.
thanks for picture inner sleeves with liner notes but why put the vinyl in this hard case?
unfortunately i don't have any comparisons to other editions.

This cut by YD and cofasa pressing sounds fantastic. More top end and bottom end. More 3d. This compared to an early French pressing which I thought would sound better. The French pressing I compared it to is also cut by YD -

Although it is a little quiet and with not so clearly expressed frequencies, the record is nice and sounds not bad at all! On the contrary, played on a newly produced record player, it is even wonderful! Apparently made to sound on new turntables and equipment, not an old one! It's about listening and I wonder why you grumble? -

Definitely the lightest record in my collection... 120 grams! Easily floppier than a floppy. -

Exceptional in every way - my favourite of his three landmark electronic masterpieces from the late 70’s / 80’s. You can hear Orbital, Depeche Mode and host of others who wouldn’t mention his influence on their chord choices. Truly amazing album and a great pressing. -
Sound quality is AMAZING. JMJ music is an acquired taste from what I have experienced, but the audio experience on this pressing is literally and figuratively out of this world.

Jean-Michel Jarre's 'Magnetic Fields' is an iconic album showcasing his pioneering electronic music. Released in the late '70s, it's a sonic journey filled with futuristic sounds and mesmerizing rhythms. The title track and other pieces like 'Part 1' and 'Part 4' demonstrate Jarre's mastery of synthesizers, creating immersive soundscapes that push the boundaries of music. 'Magnetic Fields' remains a timeless testament to Jarre's innovative approach and influential contributions to electronic and ambient music. -

I do not understand..remastered?What?The original sound is way better than this one by all meanings. How can this be at all? From a big company, such a shame..there is nothing to remaster when the original is so good. This is so reduced in high frequency and no details so you must turn your tone knob to 70%.And who did this so called remaster?
The pressing is quite decent but the sound is really a joke.I think i will buy a decent old copy from the 80's.
