Saint Etienne – Words And Music By Saint Etienne

one of my absolute favorite st et albums. a must have. and the remixes for the most part are great as well.

On first listen back in 2012, I didn't get this album at all. Its actually a brilliant record. Their best since Good Humor.

The tracks of the 2nd cd of the Deluxe version are now available on vinyl on Saint Etienne web site/store. Someone has ordered this vinyl?

Bought this to replace my original 2012 GZ pressing, which is just a tiny bit harsher and brighter, but more to the point was covered in scratches. However, album must be cursed because my first copy of the Optimal repress also had a load of scratches on side B. Second copy was perfect, though, and the St Et web store was very good about replacing it quickly. The repress just edges it in of sound for me - no loss of detail but slightly more balanced and less harsh at the top end, with less sibilance. So I'd say grab this one while it's still in print!

This is a real thing of beauty, and since I didn't have a copy of this great album on vinyl yet anyway, it was a no-brainer to pick it up. Put it on fearing the worst, but I have been pleasantly surprised - both sides are flat and centred, which is frankly a rarity, and it plays through with only a handful of single pops here and there. Sound quality is good too. All in all a winner, for the original RRP (scalper prices right now are ridiculous and I wouldn't even consider paying over the odds...)

I recently purchased the LP and the sound is fantastic! I really like the album too. Classic Saint Etienne!

Great album, misprints and all. I rather like many of the remixes, so it would be worth picking the deluxe if you're a fan.

I was genuinely taken aback by the quality of the 10 bonus tracks on this, especially after the patchy remixes disc on the UK double pack. By contrast, this - especially the first half - is, well, solid gold. Sits proudly alongside the other great St Et limited editions like Built on Sand.
