Tiësto* – Parade Of The Athletes

Not my thing. I like his older releases from the later 90's (different aliases) like West & Storm - Moose which is actually "Progressive Trance". This is more mainstream Trance.

I thought the version of Forever Today on Parade Of The Athletes Unmixed had the strings intro edited out, so is more like 8:40, not 11:59. It's 11:59 on Just Be and Magikal Journey - the classical string intro is a bit tacked on, and not really part of the main track, there's a gap. The Youtube of Unmixed is like that, 8:40, anyway. It is great. Underrated album - one of the best albums ever, in any genre.

This edition is actually a misprint/mislabel, at least my copy. Sides F and D are swapped. The track 'Euphoria' is really on side F and track 'Olympic Flame' is on side D.

Beautifully looking and sounding edition of a legendary album, a total must have for any classic Tiesto fan!

The best "artist album" of Verwest's career, albeit doubling up as a greatest hits compilation. This isn't a problem, as some of the older tracks are re-worked to good effect, and one that isn't (Forever Today) is an appropriately epic set closer. The overall feel is impressively monumental and Olympian, and the trajectory of the mix evokes a 400m final under floodlights. You can almost feel the spirit of Vangelis in the torchlit Athens night, inspiring the epic "Heroes" (the best track on the album), while "Victorious" (the second best track) is the epitome of Tiësto's own style.

The album - in its artwork and song titles - is also a tribute to Greece, 2004 was probably the best year in the country's recent history, featuring both a triumphant Olympiad and a famous victory at the European football championships. This record is a fitting soundtrack to Greece's modern annus mirabilis. The actual DJ set was considerably longer than this album, and didn't follow the same track sequence. It has periodically been available in its entirety on YouTube, but (as of mid-2022) this doesn't seem to have been the case for several years.

Of course, how much of this Tiësto actually wrote or produced is open to question - one suspects that Mr Reijers-Fraij deserves the lion's share of the credit - but if you can put that discussion to one side, there is a lot to enjoy here and very little filler. This is a great album.

Just realized Coming Home is a remix of the DJ Jan & Christophe Chantzis Mix of Theme From Norefjell. Mind. Blown.

I've picked up two copies of this and both copies the track titled "olympic flame" is an entirely different track. I think there are misprints around.

Avoid the Ukrainian Moon Records/Magic Records Ukraine version. I bought 2 brand new from Amazon, they were so poorly printed the final track wouldn't play due to a spiral pattern on the burnt data. The inlay booklet is just a folded single page too.

'Parade of the Athletes' is a great album, with no filler tracks! Just don't buy this copy!

Arguably Tiesto's best work, Parade Of The Athletes is a good example of both progressive & old school uplifting trance and the album serves as a testament to Tiesto's skill as a trance producer. The production quality on some tracks leaves a little to be desired, but overall the album is quite enjoyable. Key tracks on this album are Traffic (modeled off of Sean Deason's "Psykofuk"), Athena, and of course, the unforgettable anthem Forever Today. It's a real shame he doesn't make stuff like this anymore.

This is a Legendary masterpiece ! the best trance album of all time.
classical music and trance music is an epic match !

I think that this is one my favourite album of all music! Tiesto has been able to mix together classic music and electronic music in a work of high complexity and consistency( and sorry if it isn't enough): great instrumental parts and beautiful melodies used in the best way. 90 minutes of music without stop! I read some comments that said: there was many dj that could do better! I know that there are many dj that could be very good, but... better? Them what would they do? 90 minutes of progressive house? 90 minutes of uplifting trance type: beat, melody,beat, melody, beat.....? I think that this is a masterpiece. This work is so underrated, and not only according to me. Tiesto was the only dj who had the right quality to do something appropriate. The olympic jury that has chosen tiesto was astonished by some of his works like "lethal industry" or traffic, and chose tiesto for that reason! Tiesto sometimes is underrated, and i'm not really able to understand why, and why from someone he is so criticize him in that way! I've listened some different artists that, yes! They make a really high quality music, but they have not the courage to change and make always something different: skill that tiesto have always had, and this makes tiesto really different from all the other artists, and i think that many people don't understand this, i really couldn't replace him with any other artist, i think that he will remains on the top of my favourites.
