Michael Jackson – Immortal

As a longtime MJ fan & collector, I decided to keep my expectations low with regards to this 'Immortal' set. This is because on the surface, it looked like yet ANOTHER compilation of songs we've had for many years. After importing both 'Immortal' CDs onto my iPod, I was must say this set is a pleasant suprise. The remastering and cleaver way they combined different songs added new life to the old hits, and new special audio effects here & there were VERY nice (except for that damn elephant at the beginning of 'Ben'!!). In closing, the DELUXE Edition of 'Immortal' is a project that MJ might've been proud of. The cover art, packaging, crisp new remastering, sequencing, and combination of many hits (solo MJ, Jackson 5, and The Jacksons) results in a truly special addition to any REAL Michael Jackson Collection.

Breathtaking artwork. Phenomenal wall of sound. Superior packaging that sparkles and shines. The misprint of songs on the slipcase is dramatically wrong (as noted here on Discogs) which is kinda funny and makes it unique and special. A must-have for even a casual fan.

I listened to this via my music streaming service – we are talking CD quality and above on a very high end sound system.
I was shocked. Appalling! Utterly appalling! Why the Jackson estate ever gave permission for this I don’t know. Are they not making enough money off his death? Producer Kevin Antunes has produced utter amateurish work. Students at music college would fail if they presented such work.
I am not adverse to remixes but this is truly atrocious. If MJ were alive he would never have commissioned or consented to such butchery of his work. Why anyone would tag this as a ‘Want’ I do not know.

I'm quite surprised that this isn't on vinyl yet. Maybe someday.

Unlike Michael Jackson remixes found on Bad 25 & Thriller 25, these are actually quite good! These remixes and mashups truly have a different approach compared to the others, as these want to recreate the sound but make it sound different at the same time. Highly recommended if you want a different view of The King's hits over the years.
