Mastodon – Remission

Does sound different from the TRUTONE mastering. Idk if its better but its unique

Great album of course, already had it on cd, bought it from the band on vinyl. I got a side 4 sticker on side 2. The rest of the labels are correct. Is this a common issue with the repressing (black)?

Beautiful vinyl and is mastered very well. Always buy a 2LP set with Mastodon, you will not regret it.

This coloured vinyl looks really nice and sounds great. It’s a collectors piece really as it sounds just as good as I’ve always heard it - epic!

This is a beautiful set. I rated it 5/5 stars on Discogs because there is no .5 option and didn't want to rate it 4/5 stars. It deserves better than 4/5 stars. I picked this up used for a great price but it was virtually brand new. The packaging is excellent. The booklet is beautiful. The slipmat is a nice touch. The black/gold vinyl looks awesome but the inner sleeves are cardboard and I'm surprised there weren't any scuffs when I pulled the records out. Both records were covered in factory depris but were removed with a wash in the Spin Clean. Eventually, they'll will get ultrasonic cleaned.

I only have the digial streaming on Apple lossless connected to a Topping E30 DAC through my home audio system to compare this vinyl pressing with. Compared to both the original release and the reissue versions streaming on Apple Music, this vinyl pressing is easier on the ears, warmer and deeper sounding. Although listening to Mastodon on vinyl is better, my experience is that there isn't much too much difference from the CDs or digital streaming and I think that is a result of the way the albums are recorded, mixed and mastered. There is only so much that can be done to improve sound quality. I have never heard any of the 45RPM releases and am curious to know how this pressing sounds in comparison. This is the same with listening to the first four Metallica records, they are what they are, especially MoP and AJFA.

Finally, cracks and pops are virtually unnoticeable on this pressing. Louder parts of songs are clear without any pressing defects. There are a couple of crackles on quiet parts but I think that has more to do with my Shibata OM30 stylus because it gets pretty deep in the grooves and can reveal vinyl imperfections more easily than other stylus I own. I haven't tested listening to this record on my other TT or with other stylus.

IMHO, if you are sitting on the fence about purchasing this release, I would if you are a diehard fan or get it at a great price. My purchase was a deal I couldn't up.

I wonder as well, why can't people gently put it in the description wether it is 33 1/3 or 45 rpm?

Sounds amazing. I didn't realize it was 45 rpm until the second song, so yeah just be aware of that I guess.

This pressing sounds stellar. Classic Mastodon as clear as I've heard it to this day.
