'Generations' EPK |
Notes
Journey's thirteenth album, first released in October of 2005, as well as the second and last album to feature new frontman Steve Augeri. Augeri would depart the band shortly after due to vocal problems.
Generations continues in the style of their previous album, although with a more contemporary sound and with a harder edge in places. The album is unique in the band's discography in that all band share lead vocals throughout the album: keyboardist Jonathan Cain on "Every Generation" and "Pride Of The Family", drummer Deen Castronovo on "A Better Life" and "Never Too Late", bassist Ross Valory on "Gone Crazy" and guitarist Neal Schon on "Self-Defense", which is a re-recording of a song Schon previously released as Here To Stay. "Faith In The Heartland" and "The Place In Your Heart" would be re-recorded in the sessions for their next album with a different singer.
Generations was the band's lowest-charting studio album to date, although it did fare better in Japanese and European markets: this could partly be due to the fact that the band gave the album away at concerts before it received an official release. For the first time since the band's inception, no singles were released from the album (or at least there seems to be no record of any).
Some versions of the album contain a bonus track, "Never Too Late" as well as a multimedia EPK: furthermore, the track "Pride Of The Family" was a bonus track only on Japanese releases.

According to the seller that I bought this from, he says it was handed out during Journey's world tour in 2005. -
