Madonna – Like A Prayer

Nearly went four for four on Madonna's first four album re-releases on vinyl, all procured from Walmart in spring of 2025. "Madonna", "Like a Virgin", and "True Blue" were awesome--flat & heavy with perfectly punched holes and all sounding excellent with a noiseless background. While "Like a Prayer" is also well made without warps, pops, and clicks, it unfortunately suffers from a very low frequency (sub 50 Hz) hum that is present from start to finish on both sides, clearly heard in lower volume ages and between tracks. It's something I've only seen rarely on vinyl releases. It actually causes through my playback system unless I dial the bass back a bit. It's not helped by the fact that the level of this album is pretty modest, requiring additional power to match the output levels on most other modern vinyl I have. Too bad, otherwise this is a definitely a five-star release.

Well, let's get started! Let's start talking about how amazing it sounds! Man, this remastering is really good, balanced and crystalline. There's definitely nothing to complain about. But we need to consider other bad points like: the poor packaging with weak color saturation, the inner sleeve is literally a low quality matte PAPER, and nothing else. The disc is not 180g, there's a lot of surface noise, especially in the silent parts, and the Amazon version doesn't come with the poster... Unfortunately, the whole experience is reduced and is only worth it for the sound quality. 6,5/10

I have this pressing ... and i must say despite the time ... my copy that i have spinned millions of times back in the days .. still sounds marvelous !!!!

not so long time ago this album was reissued in a silver color vinyl ... and that made me pick my 1st pressing ... and I was atonished with the sound...good dynamics, good volume, very clear voice...

so i just skiped the reissued version ... and saved some bucks ... eheheh ;)

might be my fav madonna record but the digital master is my least favourite early madonna album to listen to.

it feels like it would sound great cranked up but then it has this sort of harshness to it that makes you keep it at a lower volume

i would say true blue is an almost audiophile grade mastering but then this one is a big step down from that

real cheap disc tho so who cares ig 🤷🏾‍♀️

I got this pressing first and then managed to find an original pressing later on..please! If you love this album, go for the original pressing and try track down a copy.
This pressing es the minimum standard of being acceptable to me. The artwork looks like a photocopy scan, the label, too.
The music itself sounds like it was WAV files pressed onto vinyl. It's lacking dynamics, colour, and that punch that the original pressing has.
Ever since getting the original pressing, I haven't touched this copy.
This deserves a proper remastered pressing with the proper high-quality artwork.

What are you all on? It sounds amazing, yes a very few clicks hearable in the silent parts, mine unfortunately has some clicks in Promise to Try. but overall it sounds really good, dynamic. Great music. And I love how it looks, the cover looks great and the printed innersleeve as well.

This LP was impregnated with patchouli oil. Still smelling good in 2024!

Was concerned it was going to sound bad since it’s 50+minutes crammed into 1 disc. On the contrary, this ended up being one of my best sounding records out of my entire collection. Robert Ludwig really outdid himself on this one.
It has so much bite and punch; “Keep it Together” feels like your speakers are about to explode (in a good way). Superb pressing and probably the definitive version of this album, which I think it’s Madonna’s best work.

Mine is almost exactly like this version, except on the rear cover the barcode is in the same orientation as Madonna, not perpendicular like the one on this listing. Same exact barcode number.

How is the sound quality on this one? . .
