David Sylvian – Dead Bees On A Cake

This digital release sounds awesome. The clarity, dynamics, and mix are perfect. This can be played very loud as there's no ear daggers or boomy bass to contend with. The soundstage is very wide, with the vocals and instruments located with laser precision

My copy of this vinyl has a small problem, I believe is a pressing problem, the first song on the C side "Thalhiem" starts without the first notes, it starts already within the song.
The vinyl sounds good and it's great to hear this album on vinyl.
The extra songs don't add much to the album, I would prefer to have a single disc version with the songs from the CD release. The additional tracks simply don't have the same quality as the tracks from the original release.
Sadly, the old nice cover from the CD release was replaced by another one.

After "Secrets Of The Beehive" this came as a HUGE disappointment...besides "I Surrender" the rest is so boring, repetitive and irritating drum beats, gone is the melody, gone are those emotions that he could bring when he was inspired, this record sounds like the fall of a genius...and now in fact, he's writing non-music and releasing disturbing records that "intellectual" listeners are judging as genius when in reality there's an artist that used to be my hero and now (in my opinion) has absolutely nothing to say.
The spark is gone my dear David, unfortunately not gone to earth....

This plays fantastic. Really, really nice. Crisp and smooth.
The artwork, both outer and inner is a thing of beauty too. Very well packaged.
I hadn't listened to it in years when I bought it initially on CD but about a year ago discovered I had a new-found love for it.
I recently picked this 2xLP version up for £10 on eBay in near-mint condition (I guess no-one else was bidding that day).
An absolute steal.

This edition I picked up at HMV as a means to finally get into this album, as I found it a struggle. It's a nice flat, quiet pressing and sounds excellent. I think the new artwork does it justice better than the original and now I love it. Highly recommended.

The new 2018 revision released on vinyl desperately needs a CD release. Would love a copy instead of having to rely on the lossless . Sort it out UMC/Virgin!

This edition with the extra tracks feels more complete to that time period. I always liked Scent of Magnolia so was very happy to see it here on vinyl. Some of the tracks I didn’t care for on the 1999 version have found a new place for me now. Maybe that’s just the vinyl speaking. And, this pressing sounds crisp and clean. Great pressing!

Nice sounding pressing, I haven't heard the RSD white vinyl version but apparently that had some pressing problems. As far as I can hear they haven't made their way on to the black version thankfully.

A genuinely funny misprint! Would love a copy for the collection.

As promised: a double black vinyl pressing (with even different artwork than the white vinyl RSD release!) was just announced via Pledge Music for late October 2018 release. Let’s hope for better QC on this pressing.. too many similar sounding complaints on the RSD version to dismiss or ignore.
