The Glove – Blue Sunshine

L’esperimento di far cantare le canzoni dei Cure ad una voce femminile deve intendersi , per me, poco riuscito.

I once had this edition and my memory of it is that it is much noisier than the black vinyl release. I love colored vinyl, but this one was unacceptable. I'm interested to hear what anyone else says about this pressing.

Absolutely wonderful pressing of this unique project. Dead quite silence and full range of sonic quality in the music. Really wish Smith and Severin had done more like this.

"Period rarities" is a lie, btw. Severin himself confirmed what people were suspecting all along on Facebook, Smith recorded those vocals at the time they went back and remastered the album. So they overlaid vocals on top of songs that never even had vocals, and some of the "demos" themselves musically are suspect, I went back and listened to the one for "Mouth to Mouth" and no delay sounded like that in 1983. It is a shame, because it would have been nice to have had "And All Around Us the Mermaids Sang" instrumentally without the fake vocals on top.

My copy has a glossy sleeve, but the spine print is blue (not black) on white. If you look at the right-hand image (under "More images") you can see that the spine print is blue there, too. Can't help suspecting that there may be no black print version..., and this is just a colour misidentification?

I have a version with PRS Hannover embossing on the back , is it distinct or do yours also have it?

This is one of those albums that represent the dynamic from the 80s, out of hand eclectic, the unique and ocasional intersection of two daring individuals, a form base of Post punk with extremely proactive electronics and effects under the veil of ethereal. "Blue sunshine" its experimental without being too much weird, a perfect middle way between pop, post punk and psychedelic electronica.

The aural experience submits you into a ethereal fading that is both colorful and spleen. The cure aura is around with the melancholic guitar chords, Severin comes in with the sequences and effects as a wizard and Landry vocals complement perfect with its melancholic and sensual tone this debauchery of tribal rhythms, florid sequencers, deep basses and magic synths. It's all dreamy, kind of mystic, madly erotic, melting brain psychedelic. An otherworldly experience with the accent of the 80s.

The album its femenine and nocturne, subtly poetic and vivid without leaving the more somber side and a melancholic tonality that subtly contrasts the more dynamic aspects of psychedelic effects or the lyrical sequences that charges it with an energetic spark.
