I lost interest in dnb around this time and this record is one of the most recent in my collection (apart from represses of old tunes). This is one of those rare occasions when a dnb remix of a hardcore tune actually sounds better than the original!.

The B side is an absolute banger too. DnB with Hardcore roots.

Breakfast Club is an okay track but it cannot meaningfully compete with the borderline mythical, goosebump-inducing remix of Dubplate that many consider a peak in the quite voluminous discography of Q-Project and Spinback.

The historical context is also worth pointing out (see below the note of Stuck_In_1992 from 2012).

Let's just say that you won't be finding many mint or near mint quality copies of this release.

Over 550 people want this and there are over 20 copies for sale here starting from a fiver. Total Science Remix of Dubplate is one of the best remixes of the decade full stop. Will launch a dancefloor any time, any place.

The ONLY D'n'B tune I bought in 2000.. I didn't buy another until 2014. (ittedly I missed out on some great new stuff from the likes of Breakage etc) but I'm so glad I have this. Total Science did absolute justice to the OG and created another dancefloor killer for abother generation, and I would happily drop this today. Top billin.

An absolute classic. I have many fond memories of Mampi Swift rinsing this one.

For me it's all about the what's my code dub plate remix... Absolutely love this version, and yes, the best so far!!! I was there in 1992-93-and 94... Went away for a while then jumped back in around the time this came about. Loved the revival of 2000! This was one of the best of that time :-)

OMG yes! This record is something else.

When this was released DNB really started to get much better then it had been. Previously there had been hints that DNB was ditching the lame techstep sound and was returning to its 1992/1993 roots of UK 'Ardkore. Before this record it was like... ok, were going to throw the old guys a bone by sticking in one cord of Maurice "This is acid" 2 maybe three times in the whole tune.

Total Science had previously remixed their 1992 anthem "Champion Sound" which was O...K... but nothing really great. The "Breakfast Club" was a totally new creation that wouldn't sound out of place in a 1993 DJ Ratty set. It featured the breakbeat loop from NWA's "Express Yourself", the bassline like in DMS's "Exterminate" (which also had the same breakbeat hmmmm...) and the classic Noise Factory style rave cord. The "Breakfast Club" is my favorite on here however the big tune was their remix of Ray Keith's Dubplate tune. The original was good, Ray Keith's own "Jump around" remix was the best. This one falls inbetween the two. It's not so much the quality of the remix that made this important. No. It's that this record helped several other producers to stop making lousy Techstep and to start making UK 'Ardkore-like cuts again. By the time I got to see Grooverider for the 2nd time he was no longer playing tacky Techstep but rather nearly an entire set of this 'Ardkore revival DNB. It was great! Sadly this phase only lasted till 2003 and then I pretty much stopped collecting these new records but it was a great 4 years.

Best release from Total Science by far. I wore the Dubplate remix out back in the day. "I tell the DJ what to play, ya see"
