Scientist – Scientist Encounters Pac-Man

Not bad, but it has some background noise & lots of clicks.

Deep, piercing bass, just like you'd expect / hope from a Scientist record of this era. A fine pressing.

I cannot identify the year, but definitely analog mastering, cutting without digital delay, and lacquer and not DMM - means everything analogue after the analogue mix. I have also had the Jamaican version of this record cut by Geovanni (https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/artist/1571941-Geovanni) which I basically melted when trying to fix the severe warping in the oven at 50 or so degrees Celsius between 2 fat glass plates. The Jamaican version has the same 3d depth, but is probably a bit on the highs and bass side (i.e. mids a bit recessed).
This version is definitely analogue, depth and space. Funny enough, the Scientist himself is all pro digital.

To me it was released around 1994 and this pressing sounds great, nice high freq. & loud bass. Scientist and Radics at their best

Dice Lloyd Bradley en "Bass Culture" que esta serie de discos de Scientist (las de los "cómics" por llamarla de alguna forma) llaman la atención por sus icónicas portadas más que por una genuina innovación en los derroteros del dub. Y algo de razón tiene en que no es una vuelta de tuerca a lo que su mentor, King Tubby, venía haciendo desde mediado de los setenta ni mucho menos se acercan a la genialidad (y locura) del mismísimo The Upsetter, Lee Perry (¿alguna vez alguien lo ha hecho?). Pero esto no es razón para quitarle mérito esta serie incontestable ya que si algo hizo Scientist fue perfeccionar el sonido, los efectos y la técnica de grabación del dub y hacerlo sonar con una precisión, profundidad y fidelidad que cuesta pensar que se grabó hace más de 40 años atrás. Y eso es razón suficiente para instalarlo como uno de los grandes nombres del Dub.

lovely package, nice to have a cd release of this great album, it even has the comic art in it looking good!
BUT..............
this is really only cool if our protagonist Scientist is profiting from it because it's his album. His credit as mixer on this release seems like an afterthought, they even replaced his face in all the artwork. What's going on here?

My copy has the quoted above matrix etching but the poorly cut Scientist Meet Space Invaders label.

Well, I think nobody knows really what happens except Linval Thompson, Scientist and the late Junjo. Linval has paid for these sessions, we don't know what happened after this ...
Whatever, great reissue and some vocal tracks are alternate takes ("Time is Important" by the Viceroys is a different mix compares to "We Must Unite" version) , I'm glad to find these gems here.

I agree, at the time Greensleeves made profit by selling Scientist stuff ; it was Scientist who made it sell... they credited him everywhere they could, on adverts and also discomixes to get benefit.
And now they put Scientist name apart.
Sad.
