I bought this at Record and Tape Exchange in Notting Hill in 2001, and found it boring. It was beat up and not super dancefloor friendly anyway, so I got rid. Funny how tastes change! I wasn't ready for the lovely depth and glorious moody beauty of it I suppose. Thanks to Fishscale77 I've just scored a much nicer copy, and now I can enjoy it on a better system than I had as a poor London student. It probably works extremely well as a CD, all the tracks are meant to fit together. Hard to pick a fave from all of the gems here. One of Kirk DeGiorgio's best projects and that's saying something!

Outstanding track for me is Blue Binarys reflection of ‘Meridian’.

For some reason, compilation albums remixed by various artists are usually a lot less satisfying than compilations of remixes by a single artist (for examples of the latter see 4hero, Biosphere, Fila Brazillia, Global Communication, Hefner, Herbert, Jazzanova*2, K&D and Plaid remix compilations...). This is an exception. Max 404, Blue Binary and Carl Craig throw in some nice variations. But the Balil/Plaid remix is really the one - perhaps because of the quality of the original track. It starts all strange and moody on yo ass, then opens up into gorgeous ambient electro - every time i put it on, i need at least 3 spins to satisfy me!

As much as I liked Reflections, I like Reflections on Reflections better. There's just more diversity to the sound -- aided, in no small part, by the list of outstanding remixers, each adding their own flair to the original composition. So we have Carl Craig turn "Asa Nisi Masa" into an ambient Detroit journey, and Autocreation turn "Mihara" into a thumping techno track. Each and every track has its charm; the only disappointing one would be the remix by Scanner -- I was hoping for more of the eerie, paranoid Scanner sound. But an excellent collection overall.
