Wonderful pressing. Flat, quiet, rich, warm. Each player is perfectly positioned for the best sound quality.
Shorter is at his very best, as is Morgan. The rhythm section’s subtle creates a sense of space, allowing the solos to breathe.
While there's no mention in Discogs or Wikipedia, the back cover points out that Herbie Hancock plays on at least A1.
This record is a go to for me. It's a classic and should be in your collection.

Side One is off center. Damn waste of the Van Gelder plates. Another Herp Derp pressing from 1970s United Artists. They did this a LOT.

Sounds good. A spot of non fill right at the end of A side. I'll likely keep it anyway.

What a beautiful copy! The record is nice and flat with no warping. The cover is in excellent condition. Packaged extremely well by Amazon. After ultrasonically cleaning the LP, I played the first side. The sound is magnificent! Very quiet with a wonderful soundstage. The separation is fantastic! Lee Morgan's trumpet is clean and powerful. McCoy Tyner's piano is in the middle and very clear. Reginald Workman's bass is solid and comes at you with authority but not overpowering. Elvin Jones' drums keep everything in time and balance. Then there is Shorter's tenor sax. Wow! It is just clean and to the point. This is a great recording and wonderful remastering by Kevin Gray. This is a keeper.

Solid, flat, clear pressing! Minimal noise, and a pretty crisp soundstage without being “crispy”. Bass is punchy without being flabby, drums cut through without overpowering, piano moves front & center during solos. Horns & snare are a little bit hard right, but that was RVG’s stylistic choice at the time 🤷🏻‍♂️

No flaws whatsoever. Flat and centered. The mastering is great, but I think it leaves a little something to be desired - a bit more life or something? It's hard to put my finger on it. I don't hate it, but it sounds a tad clinical. I have no other pressings to compare it to.

That said, it is a really excellent pressing and mastering job and I do recommend this.

Lovely sounding record, not as colourful or rich in texture as schizophrenia or ETC... well worth getting, beautiful!!!

Definetly Wayne's greatest masterpiece!!! What a record, clearly a must have !!! Kevin Gray and Blue Note team did an incredable job, a very nice analogue version of this historical recording.
