Celtic Frost – To Mega Therion

Similar comments for this ultimate classic like I wrote for Morbid Tales reissue red 2LP: very compressed remastering with thin cut and lower volume level than on 80's pressing and no, it does not sound wider or more muscular if you raise volume on your hi-fi set. More regular GZ Media issues on vinyl quality than on Morbid Tales: occasional pops, clicks and rattle here and there even if vinyls are cleaned properly. Disc 2 has Emperor's Return with tracks that I have on ER mini-LP, so it would have been great if disc 2 would have had other (great) bonuses. And like on Morbid Tales red 2LP reissue, disc 2 side 2 is cut louder than side 1. Booklet is a killer like overall execution of the package with posters, so yeah, uneven reissue again.

Are the original 1985 LP versions of The Usurper and Jewel Throne replaced with the 1986 versions off of the Tragic Serenades EP on this pressing? The linear notes seem to hint at this.

I'm assuming this is a repress of the 2017 remaster and unfortunately have to echo what some people have noticed with that version. The sound is noticeably thin, overall lacking much presence and low end detail. Not sure what happened either the source was badly remastered or the mastering for vinyl was botched or both. I find myself cutting the highs a bit and boosting the lows by a few db on my mixer to make it more "listenable".

When the music plays, it sounds alright, but between the songs you hear a lot of surface/background noise. I guess it is to be expected from a Picture Disc.

A perfect remaster: mix, clarity, dynamics, etc. My only gripe is they should have gone 24-bit, and preferably 96kHz

Great remastered version of the probably best Celtic Frost album.
Fascinating artwork by Mr.H.R.Giger and rich booklet with lots of photos from that era, Emperor's return EP as a bonus plus few more additional songs.
After groundbreaking Morbid Tales, Celtic Frost released another astonishing album.
After one minute intro of Innocence and wrath,the hell opens.
The Usurper and Jewel throne are songs that only CF can produce, Circle of the tyrant's is one of the best metal songs ever and closer Necromantical screams is pure brilliance.
The production of this remaster is excellent and you can hear all the instruments clearly.
Emperor's return EP is great addition to the album.
Recommended to every metal fan to hear what great extreme music was made in 1985.

Incredible pressing, and package. I love the mastering on this record, the shredding solos when the sear through the chugging base riffs are just delicious. BUY IT.

The sound on this vinyl release absolutely crushes (and I say that as someone who had the original pressing back in the day)! SUPER heavy yet clear. I didn't notice any noise. Excellent package as well, with a little booklet with lyrics and other notes as well as a couple of posters.

Very noisy in between the first tracks on each side but doesn't affect the music. Otherwise a great sounding reissue.
