Edited 5 months agoMy copy does not play inside-out on either side, thank god. Purchased from RedEye in 2022 or 2023. I wish the labels were more clear as to which track is on which side (pretty hard to read), or at least if A and B were inscribed in the matrices, which they are not.
Extremely clean, huge sounding pressing. Glad to finally own this. -

This is the pinnacle of Basic Channel for me - you could double the track lengths and you would still want to stay hooked into those endless and open grooves. Inversion though wins it for me, utterly sublime piece of music -
Getting past the novelty/ridiculous concept of a record playing from the label to the outer edge, this is actually a nice couple of epic deep tracks.

Edited 2 years agoI traded the original 1994 NearMint pressing for the reissue from today. Sounds better and both sides now play regulary inwards (putting the needle on the inside always bugged me).

Inversion fascinated me when I first heard it; I didn't want to stop listening and couldn't get it out of my mind. When the time comes, I return to this music, which is a 17-minute journey for me. It helps in both good and difficult times. Whatever your situation, I feel this groove is healing. In my opinion, a low cut would make the hi-hats smoother and a better fit for this piece, but I respect the duo's decision and taste. -
Music aside which speaks for itself, the pressing is absolutely stunning. Dynamic, no pops or noise unassociated to the actual music itself. You can really push the amp on this one and it just keeps giving more. What a stunner.

Edited 4 years agoThe A side is an awesome track, while the B side really dissapoints. Still worth the vinyl though.

Am i the only one who thinks about oriental influences in those chords..? -

Presence is experimental techno at it best and is also my personal favorite from the Basic Channel duo. Obviously it seems whatever they touched turned into gold but they certainly recorded a special moment & age of music here. -

sounds like it might have happened when they switched colours at the plant during manufacturing - I expect they pressed clear, then green then black. it's not unusual.
