Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart – Take Me To God

A really good album a definely my favorite Jah Wobble album. Musical, danceable and worldly.

this is sonically pleasant but frankly the kind of multicultural One-world soup that started to be served in the 80s at least with WOMAD the cultures were still respected and separate; but here not so much we have Raï singer Spanish singer Ragga Dolores O'Riordan Irish yodelling touch of Baaba Maal for added credentials every genre and their dog in a sort of sonic minestrone or better even alphabet soup with 25 different languages in the soup .... fortunately this kind of illness went away after the 90s phew that was close so be forewarned you will like some you will not like all mayhaps .... I came here for Jaki Liebezeit since if he played triangle in a Bulgarian mountain shepherd recording I would want it in my collection; but this here is pleasant; One-world wallpaper that will not bruise anyone .... MOIR Middle of the International Road that is a genre :]

Surprised to see that nobody has reviewed this yet. First, as to the music, this is probably my favorite Jah Wobble IOTH album - such a great mix of world, dub and pop. Songs are all incredibly melodic and accessible, and while they cross a diverse spectrum of cultural influences (Indian, Arabic, South American), the continuity of the album is still held together by Wobble's rhythmic bass and dubby goodness. Basically, this album really works as a whole. Of course, the stand out track is The Sun Does Rise, which received a fair amount of alternative radio play back in the day - that song still amazes me and Dolores O'Reardon's (RIP) vocals are stunning. All-in-all this a great album and probably the first place I would start in Jah Wobble's extensive catalogue. Second, this pressing, which is called the "Audiophile Edition", actually lives up to its name. Very well pressed and mastered - super dynamic, flat and quiet. The percussion section sounds like it's right in your listening room. Very highly recommended - get it while prices are pretty reasonable.
