Vaya Con Dios – Vaya Con Dios

This has always been one of my best records for testing my audio system, then taping it, and listening in my car forever driving on endless roads. This pressing is good, especially after I properly washed the record. However, only when I bought a new pressing (MOVLP2129 limited edition transparent vinyl), I realised what I was missing (read my other review). So in comparison with the new one, this ex-YU pressing, when you first play it, sounds very impressive. It sounds rich, warm and has somewhat extended bass, but this comes at cost of resolution and overall dynamic range. Vocals, back vocals and instruments sound is not as clean, especially in higher range, sometimes falling into "acoustic soup" (although a very tasty and pleasant soup). If you don't want to spend more money and don't mind some (very minor) flaws, this is a pressing which makes it fully possible to experience and enjoy the music and sound of Vaya Con Dios! But if you want to hear more music, on a higher acoustic resolution, and with more emotional force - the new MOVLP pressing is a must!

Absolutely fantastic pressing - quiet, clean, no clicks nor pops. Her voice is breathtaking, instruments are well separated, and choirs and back vocals give me goosebumps! The overall sound is VERY dynamic, much more dynamic than an older ex-YU pressing (that I also have and compare with). This dynamic range comes at a small cost of some bass, not that bass is missing, it is just that VCD music is very "vocal intensive", and when they were mastering the album, they made justice to the vocals, which ultimately put bass to the second priority - an excellent choice who ever did it. I highly recommend this pressing, grab it while you still can!
