Anything Box – Peace

I bought the "Living In Oblivion" cassette single after hearing it on the radio and immediately snapped up the "Peace" CD when it was released. I must have played the CD - start to finish - every day for a year, and it remains one of my favorite albums to this day. I was making synthpop music with my own band at the time and "Peace" became a huge influence. Gorgeous, swirling melodies presented in shimmering synthpop arrangements, topped off with dreamy vocals. The first 4 tracks are ALL 100% absolute classic synthpop juggernauts! Other highlights include "Just One Day", "Our Dreams", "Soul On Fire" and "Carmen". If you are a fan of Erasure, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys or Red Flag from the same time period, "Peace" should be a welcome addition.

If you enjoy "Peace", definitely check out later Anything Box releases "Hope" (1993) and "Worth" (recorded in 1991-1992 and finally self-released by the band in 1994). Both of those albums are every bit as good as "Peace", each with a handful of songs that rise to even higher heights.

I have the 12"ers. No need for this as the other songs are meh.

I own the original Album CD from 1990. There maybe possible duplicates or remastered or remixed versions made in 2019.

Good nostalgia album to have in the collection. I believe that since the original recording was all digital, the vinyl version doesn't sound much different than the CD I have from the 90's. That's not a knock on it, but if you have the CD, I think you might already have the highest quality version of this album. I don't regret buying it, but purely for nostalgia reasons only.
