The mistake is with the mastering on the initial release. There was some 'pops and clicks', usually found on vinyl, which made their way ,digitally, onto the initial cdr. Note the 4 track promo is fine. -

The Jon Carter remix is a great way to hear the guitar work of Mark Day. There is a break down 3/4 of the way through and then this weird plucked african style solo, usually obscured by Shaun Ryder's vocal.

A humorous semi-fictional feature film called eponymously "24 Hour Party People" was made in 2002 about Anthony H. Wilson, Factory records, and the labels bands; it was titled after this Happy Mondays track from 1987, with "Jon Carter's Main Vocal" remix version of the track featuring on the film's OST compilation.
