Blood Incantation – Starspawn

I'm not exactly sure when mine was pressed, but it sounds very good, and looks immaculate to me. It came unsealed directly from Dark Descent Records. It sounds more warm than bright, more quiet than loud, more dynamic than brickwalled...if you've heard modern mobile fidelity releases, it reminds me of those sonically. Poster, card, lyrics sheet, black poly-lined sleeve. The only knock I'm coming up with, is that it isn't a gatefold sleeve.

The debut album Blood Incantation turned out to be in damn high demand and since 2016 has been reissued in editions of all colors of the rainbow. Well, why not? This is a talented record from a promising band. "Starspawn" received a deservedly positive response. For the sake of interest, an opportunity was given to take a copy from Century Media and compare it with a copy from Dark Descent. There are definitely no qualitative differences in the sound, it's still the same mastering, however, it seems that Century Media has a slightly louder and more transparent sound. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the copy for Dark Descent was printed on GZ, and Century Media on Optima, respectively, the differences are due to the production factor.

Magenta vinyl playback absolutely clear, although the 2020 black press from DD also had no problems. But still, out of habit, Optima products arouse a little more confidence, so most likely will leave this particular copy in the collection. As for the design, the differences are minimal, CM has gatefold, on the spread is not very informative photo taken from the open library of images of the Hubble telescope or something like that, nothing artistic. The poster (again, with a very specific, if not stupid drawing) in the edition from CM is a little less, but in this case it doesn't matter at all about the poster.

By and large, if you want to have some kind of exclusive edition of this album, then you can take any edition in some poisonous color, that CM, that DD, that NESI have no significant differences, except for the color of the vinyls and optional design elements.

This is a pretty interesting pressing and release. The script OBI (not sure what it's called in China) looks really cool and seems to be printed on rice paper. The Black / Red swirl vinyl really suits the pressing and sounds pretty good. A few pops and clicks but is overpowered once the music kicks in. Overall, a great package and killer album.

Why are there multiple entries for the black version when there is no way to indicate the black represses?

Sounds amazing. It's a great pressing that translates this live studio recording in proper fashion. The texture is rich, detailed and visceral. What more could you ask for?

Pressing is fine, not sure if anyone else’s pressing barely has any yellow in the mix. Almost thought it was solid red a first!

As dark descent wrote it on a paper delivered with thé record sand is used in order to get this beautiful red and yellow record but when thé record are shipped to us i think they get scratched in thé process i also have thé 2020 pressing and better sound flawless

The 2020 reissue sounds like I can't find fault with it personally. Good sound detail and excellent dynamics. Excellent quality!
