RiTonis

Profile:

Former Latvian label and pressing plant based in Riga.
In the turmoil of the dissolution of the USSR and national independence movements, the Baltic branch of Рижский Завод Грампластинок based in Riga, began to work under the name RiTonis, showing up the first time in 1989. Their releases were sold mostly in the local and Russian markets.
The pressing plant was officially re-ed by Russian Disc, meanwhile using RiTonis name for the local Latvian market. After the dissolution of the USSR, the pressing plant was privatised in 1992 and started to work only under its new legal name RiTonis.
The pressing plant went defunct in mid-90ies and the real estate was repurposed for other usage after 1999, leading to discovery of last remaining record batches in the former warehouse, which were sold off in 2001 in a special sales week. After that, the RiTonis company was officially liquidated in April 2006, remaining inactive until its legal dissolution.
