Often a manufacturer for TV d releases on 3rd party labels and/or mail-order catalog only releases. Was also a budget reissue and compilation label of its own. CBS Special Products was also used as the outlet for the promotional material services offered by CBS Records in the US, Canada, Britain and Continental Europe (i.e. bespoke company records, advertising picture discs, etc.).

Among its duties was assembling and pressing compilation albums for telemarketing companies (i.e. Sessions) and various other companies for promotional use.
