International music publishing / instrument manufacturing (group) company operating from 22nd Sep 1930. (Initially incorporated as Hawkes & Son (London) Ltd. 21st Mar 1927)

Sometimes appears as a label on self-released music they control the rights to (please beware that some such releases specifies just Boosey & Hawkes and to not conflate the two)

The group was founded in 1930 by Leslie Boosey and Ralph Hawkes through the merger of Boosey & Co Ltd.
Principal activities of the groups divisions (subsidiaries) - included - the manufacturing and sale of musical instruments, music publishing, promotion of performances of composers works and printing sheet music.

As of the 1990s the group were operating instrument manufacturing / distribution facilities in the UK, , , Sweden & Japan, and publishing companies in London, Berlin, New York and Australia.

On the 19th Feb 1982 the company was re-ed as Boosey & Hawkes Plc until reverting back to a private company on the 29th Sep 1998, on the same date the group was restructured - Boosey & Hawkes Ltd. was re-incorporated and re ed as a new company. The initial company was renamed "Boosey & Hawkes Group Services Ltd" and became a subsidiary.

The company now solely operates as a publishing business (copyright owner) since the sale of its instrument business's and library label company Cavendish Music Co. Ltd. Since 2008 has formed part of the "Imagem" Group. Ultimate parent "Algemene Pensioen Groep" based in the Netherlands (As of 2017)
