It released a variety of styles of music ranging from experimental hardcore to different styles of trance to hard techno. In an interview in 1995, Lenny stated that IST stood for "Intelligent Sex Tracks".

Legendary label...
It is worth having his vinyls in the collection, not only for the particular industrial sound, but also for the beautiful covers.
Very acid colors, and the mythical mushroom on the back !!!!!

Contrary to popular opinion and heresay, IST does not stand for Industrial Strength Trance, in fact it doesnt stand for anything at all, go look at your IST record sleeves, do the words 'Industrial Strength Trance' appear anywhere? Exactly.

Even the IS website had the label down as such for a time.

Lenny Dee himself stating this was the case in several interviews for magazines, jokingly saying that the label can stand for anything people liked such as 'Intelligent Sex Tracks'.
