Kao-American Helix

Profile:

'KAO-American Helix' refers to KAO Infosystems Co.'s Lancaster, PA manufacturing plant. KAO Infosystems Co. acquired the plant from American Helix Technology Corporation in 1993, after which it became Kao Infosystems Company Optical Products Division (hence spawning the more commonly-named KAO Optical Products). In 1996, David Dering, founder of American Helix, acquired the plant back from KAO Infosystems and continued operations independently.

Some CDs manufactured by KAO-American Helix include a unique identifier "W.O.# xxxxxx-y" on the mirror band of the disc matrix area. This, and only this identifier can be entered to the LCCN company catalog number field; when doing so please use the work order number "xxxxxx" only without the final "-y" suffix. See Borbetomagus - Buncha Hair That Long for an example.
