Auralux Recordings

Profile:

Auralux Records, established in late 2003 by Marcus Weedon, was a UK-based label that specialized in reissuing rare and unreleased Jamaican music. The label's creative direction was led by David Katz, who acted as a musical consultant. Katz's connections in Jamaica provided access to unreleased tracks and rare recordings, sometimes directly from the artists.

Auralux originated when Katz approached Hill with a collection of unreleased Linval Thompson & Friends - Whip Them King Tubby. With Katz contributing ideas and facilitating access to artists and their recordings, Hill and the label maintained a meticulous approach to reissues, prioritizing high-quality audio transfers and detailed liner notes.
Auralux emphasized that they used ethical practices, working directly with original rights holders to ensure artists received proper royalties.

The label ceased operations in early 2010.
