Central Park, New York

Profile:

A large rectangular parcel of land that stretches from midtown to upper Manhattan, in New York City (51 city blocks long and three avenues wide).

The south end is at 59th Street (Central Park South), north end is at 110th Street (Cathedral Parkway), in Harlem and the east and west borders are at 5th Avenue and Central Park West (8th Avenue) respectively. It includes a zoo, with a children's zoo within, 2 museums, Metropolitan Museum of Art (on 5th) and the Museum of Natural History (on 8th). There is the Great Lawn, the massive opened space which has hosted numerous concerts including, a Simon & Garfunkel reunion, Elton John, America and Diana Ross, to name a few.

A huge reservoir provides some of New York City's water. Several roadways cross through the park.
