WEA Records SDN. BHD.

Malaysian operation of WEA Records, began operation in July 1978. With the change of international operation's name to Warner Music (including Malaysia), WEA Records Sdn. Bhd. was renamed to WEA or others that appeared within the releases.

Identifying releases:
Domestic albums released by WEA Records in Malaysia follows the album code of M XXXXX for LP. The cassette version of the same album uses M40 XXXXX. The album codes started with, for example, M 93400 and M40 93400. The same type of album codes such as 93046 had been already used by the Hong Kong of WEA Records, but with the letter H at the beginning. Local Chinese repertoire album were indicated with the letter BC (Bahasa Cina) at the bottom of the album code.
Different codes are also used for selected releases, for example, an album from Blues Gang (3), uses the international WEA code. Albums released by other record companies with WEA distribution uses the TPM XXXX code, but this code is more common in later years than during the WEA era.
Album codes may also include dash to split the format and album code, example: M40-93510.
These album codes were used until 1989, when it was replaced by the WEA album codes that used in other countries (in 1990, beginning with 9031-XXXXX-X).
