DeepChord

Profile:

Dub techno label run by Mike Schommer, based in Detroit, USA. Output is in a similar vein to the likes of Basic Channel, but the sound is a little more refined. Also appears as two words: Deep Chord. The label uses the phrase only as one word in two different font sizes, 'chord' being written in a smaller type.

Releases 7-9 were re-pressed in small amounts for the DEMF 2001. These re-presses were marked with the stamp DEMF 2001.

Releases 10-14 were initially released each on a different coloured vinyl, in highly limited amounts (typically about 100 copies exist for each). This was followed by a regular black vinyl release.

DeepChord closed the gap after Basic Channel left the stage and they took over the baton to continue the Berlin - Detroit thing in their own way. Deep timeless DubTech vibes. Thank you for these finest moments !!!

Pure dub techno bliss on this label. Only 9 vinyls but took me the best part of 3 years to obtain (without paying silly money!!!!). Well worth the wait for this highly recommended label.

If you like Basic Channel & Chain Reaction releases, you'll love Deep Chord. I actually find Deep Chord a bit more soothing & hypnotic. The mere fact that Deep Chord is so hard to GET (of course, sometimes the hunt can be just as fun when trying to find music, particularly on vinyl) appeals to me. It seems like most on line record shops now stock like DC12 and up, so get whatever you can, WHILE you can! I have almost all of them and am still working on the search! Quick description: muted chords (yeah, "deep chords") with tight echoes and muted kicks. There is definitely a commonality to all the releases, but in a good way. Great stuff!

Great Minimal-Dub-Tech comes from this label. Building up one of the most dense and athmospherical soundscapes. Very recommendable.

From the 10th release on the cat-nr. has been changed to DC xx instead of DCV xx.
