Mountain Studios

Profile:

Recording studio that used to be inside the Casino Barrière de Montreux in Montreux, Switzerland. The studio has eventually moved to its new premises in 2002 in Attalens, near Montreux. In the former studio in the casino "Queen - The Studio Experience" has been opened. Note: for recordings made / mixed post 2002 please use Mountain Studios, Attalens.

Also noted on releases as Mountain Recording Studios or Mountain Recording Studio, and sometime misspelled as Montreaux.

In 1975 David Richards owned the studio up until his death in 2013.

In 1975, Mountain Studios was built in the then new Montreux Casino by Tom Hidley.
Queen first recorded there in 1978 for their album "Jazz". Queen were impressed with the fascilities and bought the studio for their own use the following year.
David Richards, who ed the studio in 1977, went on to produce and engineer many of Queen's albums and their solo efforts.

David Richards took full ownership of the studio in the mid 1990s and moved it to nearby Attalens, Switzerland. Richards owned the studio up until his death in 2013.
