The Palast der Republik was one of the landmarks of the German Democratic Republic and was built on the site of the blown up Berliner Stadtschloss. It was designed as the political and cultural center of the GDR and was used between 1976 and 1990. The Palast der Republik hosted the parliament and had an event hall with up to 5000 seats. Instead of this venue the Berliner Stadtschloss was rebuilt and opened in 2020. |
