Digitalfabriken

Digitalfabriken was a mastering studio located in Gothenburg, Sweden, established by Torbjörn Samuelsson.

In December 2000, Digitalfabriken was acquired by Swedish media manufacturing company Logos, a CD manufacturing plant located on the same premises as Digitalfabriken, in 1998. After the acquisition of Digitalfabriken, DCM consolidated both Digitalfabriken's mastering operations and Logos' CD manufacturing operations under the name Digitalfabriken.

Digitalfabriken CDs carry a unique matrix number in the format YYMMXXX#####, where:
· YYMM = year and month in which Digitalfabriken processed the order.
· XXX = A sequence of 1-3 letters, seemingly indicating the glass master origin (see below).
· #### = A sequential number of 4-5 digits. This part may be entered into the LCCN as catalog number.

It appears that Digitalfabriken outsourced glass mastering to external manufacturers, or other DCM group locations where glass mastering equipment existed. The 'XXX' part of the matrix number above indicates the origin of the glass master, and is related to the mastering SID code found on the disc.
