Galaxy Studios was founded by the brothers Wilfried and Guy Van Baelen in 1981. The studio was built in the chicken stable of their parents. The studio gained fame quickly. In 1995, the brothers proposed an expansion. They made new studio spaces on metal springs who were able to isolate environmental noise up to less than 3 Hz, and succeeded to attenuate the noise for over 100 dB, a world record. In the years '2000, they focussed on film sound, and developed a new format: Auro-3D. It was used by Lucasfilm in 2011. The brothers hoped to implement their 3D sound experience in home theaters and expanded the studios again in 2013. Unfortunately it was not the success they expected. the company had a hard time paying off the debts they made for the latest expansion. The Galaxy Studios was declared bankrupt on November 21 2023.
