Dutch packaging manufacturer and printing company (company name without legal form "B.V.")
As subsidiary of the "International AGI Shorewood Group", they manufacturer various packaging products for music/video/multimedia/games markets, along with cards and telecommunications industries. Besides packaging for various data carriers, they also provide packaging for the luxury and lifestyle sector.
The company was founded on 31 October 1931, formerly known as "Drukkerij Van de Steeg", but then named "Van de Steeg Packaging" in the 1980s.
In the 1970s, the company became the first producer of record sleeves in The Netherlands. Exports started for the first time in 1978, towards .
Over the next 10 years more record sleeves were exported than sold domestically. They presented a new developement in 1983, a single-piece cardboard box – now widely known as "Digiboks". In the following years, other packaging methods were introduced such as CD covers, laserdisc covers, special packaging for two or more CDs, and "Digipak".
Their product "Shufflepak" received the "Golden Note", the most respected prize for packaging in The Netherlands. In the 1990s other new developments appeared as "Ecopak" and "DVDigipak".
At the end of the 1990s, Van de Steeg was taken over by the British Impac Group Inc. in 1998.
Their products now include: Digipak®, Digipak® Specials, Digipak i-create®, DVDigipak®, DigiSmart®, DigiSmart® XS, Digistak®, DigistakPlus®, Digisleeve®, Digifile®, Slipcase®, Rigid Slipcase® (box board), Expericard®, Tronpak®, USBpak, and DigiCode.
