Seelie Court

Profile:

English label - Archival Recordings 1965-1978 by British & Irish Artists. In 2024 released pioneering Plant Based Bio LPs, abandoning PVC LPS forever. Most of the releases are saved from unique sources and not previously issued. Genres include Progressive Rock, Folk Rock, Psychedelia, Hard Rock, Experimental and the wilfully eccentric.
Audio Restoration is by several Specialist audio engineers, including work at Abbey Road. All pressings were made on the original E.M.I Presses in London where the 60's Beatles LPs were pressed until 2022 when severe delays in pressings caused the label to use alternative British Presses.
The label owns permanent rights in thousands of songs which are steadily being released, and is home to the Copyrights in the Complete Works of Dark makers of the worlds rarest rock LP.
Seelie Court is Vinyl only. Sub Label Seelie Court Digital releases CD versions. In 2024 launched Punk/Post Punk/New Wave & Electronics sub-labels. Collaborates with the USA label Saturn Eye Records who issue Limited American editions, notably Cassette and Recycled 8-Tracks. Seelie Court does not use Shrinkwrap, Polylined Inners or any unnecessary plastics as a standard environmental policy. From summer 2024 collaborated with R&D company producing Green alternative to PVC vinyl LPs. Mastering, Manufacturing and Artwork is all done in Great Britain.

Are new vinyl pressing coming soon ? In the latest issue of Shindig (#162) there is a piece about Straight and it says that it should be available on April the 11th. Any truth behind this affirmation ?

I will say, there are some cd releases listed as "Forthcoming" from Seelie Court over on Juno Records' website that don't seem to have been released yet, including a new CD release of Dark Round the Edges. It's possible that the Dark retrospective collection set them back significantly, but it does seem likely that they're not gone just yet, and will hopefully make a return in the coming months.

What happened to this label? They promised to press every album on cd and lp as well, I'm waiting for some lps to be published but it seems like frozen. News?

Imho, two really bad choices for the Dark, Round the Edges album. 1, The perforated opening at the top of the paper outer sleeve, my copy I received from Juno on Ebay was already open, affecting the value, which I was not pleased about. 2, The barcode sticker put on this paper outer sleeve, again, affecting value. Happy to have a copy, but still, bad manufacturing choices.

It's a shame that you make a point about not using poly lined inners, esp when I just bought an LP for just shy of £40 with a load of paper muck on the playing surface that wouldn't be there if it had a poly lined inner.

6 new CDs now available through Lasgo distribution -

Windfall - genuine 70s folk rock like Dulcimer, 8 page booklet.
Mythica - 1969 very like COB and predating them, 12 page booklet.
Parameter - the most overlooked genuine psych folk LP in the galaxy
Charge - very heavy, very rare
Crooked Oak 2 - mellifluous trad folk like Silly Wizard, a bit.
Twenty Five Views of Worthing, 12 page booklet - Stonking Art Rock with a Canterbury vibe. Recommended to anyone thirsting for genuine period prog. Inc.1 bonus song not on the previous long sold out vinyl edition.
