Can someone explain what makes these releases "unofficial?" Most appear to be tracks originally issued as Sunshine Sound 12" singles. I found one interview online with Henry Stone claiming that that was correct: generally, for any TK sub-label, 45s and albums would be released under the sub-label name, but 12" singles would be released under TK Disco. The Sunshine Sound sub-label was set-up specifically for Harry Wayne "KC" Casey and Richard Finch to release KC and the Sunshine Band and acts produced by them, like Jimmy "Bo" Horne. Originally, KC wanted his 12" versions released on his special sub-label. But he eventually realized TK Disco, with its iconic palm tree jackets and such, had tremendous cachet with club jocks; so he agreed to have those Sunshine Sound 12" singles re-released on that label, to improve club play. As such, then, these appear to be legal pressings from the record company, not bootlegs. So why the penalty box? Have I misunderstood what these are?
