Columbia Record Club

Profile:

Columbia Record Club was a US mail-order record club launched by CBS Inc.'s Columbia Records division in August 1955. In 1966, it became part of the newly formed Columbia House in 1971. Columbia Record Club continued to operate as a branch of Columbia House while being phased out; by circa 1979/1980 it was completely absorbed into Columbia House and ceased to exist. Nevertheless, Columbia House kept using a "CRC" mark on all formats for decades thereafter—after 1980, this mark must be interpreted as Columbia House, before 1971 it must be Columbia Record Club, and in between it can be either.
