Couldn't see a thread for this...
...so here's the place to post any new releases with an oldskool vibe. :-)
Here's 2 great twelves from new trio Try Unity (which inspired this post)
https://tryunitymusic.bandcamp.com/album/stand-up-fight-for-love
https://tryunitymusic.bandcamp.com/album/try-unity-e-p
Maybe not one for vocals haters but I love the positive message in their lyrics, Great to hear this kind of stuff being produced now. -

Both quality 12"s from Try Unity there. I'm pretty sure that they have their third release coming out on the 15th December too, so worth following them on Bandcamp.
Speaking of oldskool themed nuskool, Kniteforce Records have been on fire lately with their releases. The bundle packs have been awesome.Plus they have had new contributions from the likes of Liquid, Hyper-On Experience,The Fat Controller and Scott Brown on the brand new 'Remix' 12"s.

I quite like this label's output. Some are re-releases but most are original old skool pre-92 techno & house sounding tunes (not hardcore) https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/label/732881-Super-Rhythm-Trax -

Super Rhythm Trax looks really interesting, will have to check them out thnks Nuttah. :)
Will have a lsten to the new Kniteforce stuff thanks BBS. Recently read How To Squander Your Potential - The Smart Es & Kniteforce Story ... a good read! Will check Try Unity's Facebook page for the new release, They are playing down in Brighton next year at an oldskool night called Calling The Hardcore, I'm hoping to go if I can find somewhere cheap to stay. -

Yeah, Luna-C's 'How To Squander Your Potential' is a class read. Am awaiting the 'V.I.P. Remix' of the book(!!!???) as we speak.
On the same topic of the book (of which it's been re-issued and expanded with a bonus 12" on the following label), have you checked out Billy Bunter's Music Mondays store yet? He has done a few top notch oldskool style, nuskool albums on vinyl, Billy Daniel Bunter & Sanxion and Liquid (of 'Sweet Harmony' fame). Both releases are 12 track. triple vinyl - so 2 tracks per side. Well worth checking out...
Billy Daniel Bunter & Sanxion '88-'94 The Album'... https://musicmondays.databeats.com/vinyl/mmlp2ef
Liquid 'Energy Flows'... https://musicmondays.databeats.com/vinyl/mmlp2ef
Jedi Recordings are well worth checking out too. DJ Jedi has been pushing the nuskool breakbeat hardcore sound for years now. Including many 12"s featuring the likes of Worldwide Epidemic (if you like authentic Basement/ style jungle tekno!), Revert Project, DJ Luna-C and Jedi himself to name but a few. The label's Bandcamp store has loadsa 1992-1994 style vinyl in stock...
https://djjedi.bandcamp.com/
As does DJ Abo's Peace On Wax, who has hardcore breaks pioneers Stu & Nee, Systec & Shar-Pei and oldskool legend Boykz on their roster...
https://djabo.bandcamp.com/music
DJ Flow and the Oldskool Rave & Trade Facebook group unleashed their 1st 4-track EP this year with contributions from Hardcore Will Never Die's DJ Fav, Beardy and Worldwide Epidemic. Of which copies are still available...
https://djflow-uk.bandcamp.com/
Also worth noting that Ron Wells (aka Jack Smooth of Smooth Recordings/Basement Records/Sound Entity fame) has also released some brand new jungle techno (and a classic house EP too) on wax, courtesy of Music Preservation Society...

And last (for now!), but certainly not least. If you are a fanatic for heavy as hell 1993 style darkcore on vinyl, then you NEED to get your hands on anything on FX's excellent Demonic Possesion Recordings...

Liking that!
There's quite a bit of 91/Belgian influenced stuff coming out on techno/house labels. Of course when I'm put on the spot I can't really many...here's a few bits and pieces I've picked up over the last year or so though:
Drvg Cvltvre - Scare Your Children
Ethan Fawkes - Let's Go James (Mark Archer Remix)
Luke Vibert - Everybody
Luke Vibert - Heard It All B4
Millimetric - Deflection
Krystal Klear - Moonshake Miner
Radio Slave - Children Of The E (KiNK SP1200 Remix) -
Show this post
that Drvg Cvltvre tune is a belter - was already on my wants list although really i'm hoping it's pressed on 33 cos i want to play it sped up :D
I would also add this - quite darkside 93 meets early Alec Empire: https://soundcloud.com/sixsunera/sets/true-force-ep - from New Zealand!
zykotik
Liking that!
you might also like the Globex Corp EPs, by i think some of the same guys: https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/label/1077811-Globex-Corp - more on a 93/94 jungle techno / Bukem tip.
and I think you'd like *some* of the new Kniteforce/Knitebreed stuff. some is quite authentically 94/95. -

Those Globex EPs aren't too bad, certainly authentic sounding. Will keep an eye on those.
Yeah whenever I hear Kniteforce stuff these days I am more often underwhelmed than not. But I'll keep an ear on what they're doing. -

Another couple, both from the same release. One a mellow 91-style breakbeat effort, and one more in the atmospheric 94 jungle vein:
Gnork - Yoga On E
Gnork - Magic Arpz -
Show this post
yeah that's nice :)
it's interesting that some of these new releases have a mix of styles like that.
for instance this EP that's on my wants: https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/Comfort-Zone-Moonrocks-EP/release/12362310 - the two tracks on the A-side are oldskool house, but the B sides are great fluffy jungle (the YT videos are the jungle ones). i think it helps keep the new stuff interesting that the people making it are coming from all sorts of other scenes. -
Show this post
Just saw this on my soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/dbh-music/ctx061-chrissy-resilence-chiwax
3 tunes of great uplifting oldskool house/hardcore crossover. fourth track maybe isn't as relevant for you guys, more footworky (i still like it personally) -
Show this post
Oh wow - definitely not the sort of thing I'd expect to hear on Chiwax! That first track in particular is great, nice find.
Also heard this today - not strictly old skool but the title should give you an idea of what the influences are:
Clouds - Parkzicht -
Show this post
it's by Murderbot who used to make jungle and has released a lot of rave-inspired stuff, like weird juke tunes that sample happy hardcore ;) his blog "year of mixtapes" is genuinely one of the best music-related things on the internet (basically 52 mixes, mostly themed on a different genre). and his new beat sets are wonderful.
that Parkzicht tune is alright although i do always find tunes percussion that sparse a bit frustrating. just adding a hi-hat would have really lifted it!
another newish release which is pretty interesting: both quite laidback and ravey at the same time: https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/Refreshers-How-Bout-U/release/12328661
and this is great too: https://greenbaywax.bandcamp.com/album/bogusmuff-01-pill-dreads-bogus-journey-12-vinyl-limited - although i did order it in July and it's still not arrived... -
Show this post
Ah, cool. I do like some of his stuff, he seems to be massively varied which is no surprise given the year of mixtapes that you mention (I've heard of this many times but have never actually got around to listening to any of them).
Funny you should say that about Parkzicht, as Clouds and also AnD are two sets of producers who I find are guilty of this quite a lot. I agree with you in that it's not a bad track but lacks that extra something.
Not sure about the Refreshers one. I've found as I've got older I'm a lot less into jungle than I used to be, and a lot of what comes out now is very much on the jungle tip. It's fine...it just doesn't particular excite me.
That last one is decent - one of the best attempts at 93 style that I've heard. -
Show this post
Some of the new jungle stuff is quite forgettable I find, so I'm sort of with you. If it's very atmospheric or just a straight amenfest, in particular. But some of the slightly weirder ones of the last couple of years have stood out for me. I like it when there's some influences from other styles. Plus I do still prefer my rave music over 150 bpm :)
One more to add: https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/Unknown-Artist-Luv-This-Music-Sweet-Murda/release/11398187 - I have no idea why it has two tracks on 1 side and the other blank? but I think you might like the A1, it's not too jungly. -

This is maybe my favourite of the year so far: https://myor.bandcamp.com/album/knock-out - 93/94 hardcore style but with a definite Euro hardcore influence. love it. Coco Bryce is my favourite producer these days, along with Tim Reaper...
https://soundcloud.com/jrobinson/meditator002-puffin-billy-12-vinyl-only-releasecoming-soon - just solid old 92/93 style hardcore - but no big pianos or bukem atmospherics. and i like the album art :) bit of acid in the second track too!
http://www.lifemachine.co.uk/millie-back-2-life-high/ - this does lean a bit on familiar samples - i've definitely heard that piano before too. it's done well though.
another new Liquid EP coming on Kniteforce too... -

Nice releases all round there. Not particularly outstanding but they do their job well. It's amazing how much this stuff has caught on - I wonder if the b2vos guys from 10-15 years ago find it all a bit frustrating that they plugged away for so long with relatively little response.
That piano is from Billy Bunter - New Sensation btw :) -

i think what makes some of the new stuff strong is the fact that it isn't just made by people who's main musical influence is other oldskool, which i think was a limitation for the 00s hardcore breaks stuff. not that some of that stuff wasn't also great of course.
that's probably also why even the tunes that have more modern influences - like the new jungle tunes with footwork elements - it's still consistent with the vibe. (whereas the equivalent of that a few years ago was probably rave breaks...) -
