Mix available on Soundcloud : no tracklist.
https://soundcloud.com/funky_jeff/vocalists-of-dub-techno
Dub techno is sometimes produced with vocals resulting in surprinsingly good results more than often. I ve selected 25 tracks which features vocalists (and some vocal samples) like Paul St-Hilaire and Benji. This is slowly meandering spacedub with deep, peaceful and dreamy lush ambient pads and dubby basslines. Though the old Rhythm & Sound influence is still clear—especially on the track Child was I—but what these producers are making truly feels fresh.
Featuring Paul St-Hilaire, Yagya, Mike Schommer & Dialog. More on this subject on Resident advisor’s website here------->

there are a couple of things in there that I didn't recognize....who for example did the track near the beginning with the female singer singing about love cynicism, the consumption of animals and resources until they are all gone etc? that one especially was off of my radar... -

I am not gonna publish any more tracklist for mixes because I spend enough (way too much in fact) time digging and you see tons of websites or leeches coming on to me asking for track id and for me it's such a turn off, I am not gonna respond just like I wont answer live or give them the following answer : I don't !
I pay 300 $ per year to put music on soundcloud, plus buy all my records, the time I put in this is insane.
I like to have a find exclusive stuff and after thinking of it a lot I also prefer sets on SC that have no tracklist simply because you can focus on the journey instead of what's playing in the mix. Besides I think music like this isn't meant to be known but discovered ;-)

Great article. It's definitely a massive issue and I agree it gets in the way of enjoying the music. But i'm very guilty of lacking the impulse control to not do it wen in a club - not to a ridiculous extent but i will ask teh dj if i'm desperate. This reminds me of a recent Jeff Mills gig in Dublin: there was a guy beside me shazamming at the end of 'The Bells' - during the outro...I had to ask him hat he was doing like. He replied that he was sure there was something else looped underneath that outro...it was a real wtf moment becos all i could hear was the outro to 'The Bells'...and yet...i then started wondering 'does Jeff not mix out of this before this late in the outro...he's definitely not doing 2 copies...is there something else in there...'
The whole thing struck me as an alien thing to be doing at that moment and yet I got sucked into it.
Also on the no id's: it adds mystique wen you can't get an id...there's a Norman Nodge mix from Berghain that begins with some great new agey type ambient and there was no hint of any id's on these and once I accepted that I was free to enjoy.
I'm tempted to now go and check that mix. OC.
Love the mix btw! RA recently did a decent list of Dub Techno w. Vocals, i'm sure you've seen that? References playing the b side of this https://kynantrecords.bandcamp.com/album/paul-st-hilaire-ren-l-we-faith
at 33 rpm - great tip! -

Couldn't agree more ! The whole club culture got wack when people do not enjoy the DJ's, the music, Basically not being there in the moment.
Can you imagine Woodstock happening now with all those twats glued to their smart phones? Oh look Hendrix is playing the US anthem am gonna take the best pic possible!
YOU ARE MISSING THE GIG MATE!
When I started raving in 1992, the 2nd techno I heard, after Little fluffy clouds in 1991, was Stella by Jam & Spoon.
Guess how long I waited in order to know what it was?
4 years!!!
That is correct.
1996.
So back to the mix yes I saw RA feature : awesome stuff and PSH as well on Kynant.
I ll add another link on WT.
How is Dublin these days?

Dublin takes house/techno... everything music-wise very seriously (in a good way). I love this. I now live in Tyrone but go there for nights out. The best 2 thing I've been to in years clubbing wise were recently in Dublin - RP Boo ed by Don Rosco and Kate Butler and that Mills gig where he was ed by Americhord. The acts of both nights were stunning as was the energy and buzz. It was really noticeable how that energy affected Mills and RP Boo - e.g. I've never seen Jeff so smiley and like bashful - he was soaking up the crowd's love as was Boo - and the crowds at both gigs were noticeably young...there was a shock in the air about how great the music was across and headline acts during the entirety of both nights. This is the almost novelty or naivety you crave in a night out and Dublin is brilliant for this. -

Yeah - i have a Mark bell mix on tape from mid 90's and I'm still stumbling across id's from it - such a brilliant feeling when that hits. It mightn't even have been done by Mark Bell but you know what I mean - distant gratification is the way (fred gianelli). -

Edinburgh...
However for about a third of my time I worked in Glasgow but the commute back and forth certainly was not my favorite use of time... I like both cities though for different reasons :) -

btw, I hear you regarding how much time/money goes into digging but I always type up tracklists... the artists deserve to be credited -

True dat, I agree it's why I tag them on social media (Blog-FB-Twitter) but the problem is so much twats (mainly wanna be DJ's with 30 records on discogs) stealing my ideas and I am sick & tired of that...
I can't stand Track ids request anymore.

The good ole Matos movement :) (movement against tracklistings of sets).
I am not a fan if tracklists either. For a different reason. I just dont want to know whats going to be played. I might not know the song, but good chance I know the style of music from the artists listed. I like to go into mixed with a blank canvas. As a DJ and as a listener (even though I dont listen to mixes much if at all for the past 20 years). I occasionally ask for songs when hearing a mix if they are a close friend. If I don't know the DJ, I don't generally ask.
Etiquette is important in DJing. We are all diggers. Plus, I have always found it amazing when you find stuff later that you heard many years before. Its a great feeling. Much better than asking another for the answer. -

Tim I also think asking for id's all the time is like leeching on to a DJ and record collector who is knowledgeable : ''I don't have your culture and your knowledge and you dig that track very deep but I wanna borrow yours a second to pretend I am a DJ and someone who knows music''.
If one listens to a mix and constantly asks : WHAT'S THIS?
First you are missing the present time, carpe diem, I Ching and enjoy the trip DUDE !
Second, it's a mask for ignorance.
We started in a time when in the early 90s, you HAD to HAVE records in order to mix and be a DJ.
Nowadays, the Beatport, get a gig, take 100 selfies : That's it you re a DJ.
You can fake a lot of things but ignorance is bliss...
Just my two cents, going back to mixing!
